HINANA KI UTA, HINANA KI TAI

KO WAI MĀTOU
We are a family owned and operated media company based in Taupō.
Hinana Media operates under our values of Kotahitanga and abundance.
Our Directors are descendants of Ngāti Tūwharetoa & Tainui.
Our tupuna Te Heuheu, had a huge pātaka which sustained a large gathering of people in the 1800's.
This famous gathering led to the establishment of the Māori King movement, Te Kiingitanga in 1856.
Hinana Media was established by Co-Directors, Raiha & Tupoutama Paki in 2014 to tell indigenous stories through digital content.

Tupoutama Paki
Hinana Media Co-Director
Tupoutama is a passionate storyteller. Born and raised in Tūrangi, he’s no stranger to the stage.
Tupoutama has been working in Māori Broadcasting since the age of 12 when he presented Tikitiki, a children’s show on TVNZ.
Tupoutama’s career on stage and in screen production has taken him all over the world. His dream has always been to tell the stories of his people.
Now, his most important role of all includes raising his son Monoa and being a rock for his wife, Raiha.
Hinana Media was born out of the desire to work on kaupapa-driven projects.
Raiha Paki
Hinana Media Co-Director
Raiha was born to be a voice for the people. She was raised in a Māori speaking household within her tribal area of Tainui. Since she could operate a camera, she would document her world.
Raiha’s career in Māori Broadcasting started at Radio Tainui as a DJ. From there she went on to work in journalism for Te Karere, The Hui (TV3) and Māori Television as the European Correspondent.
Raising her son Monoa at home gave her reason to leave London to tell the stories of her people.
The Paki whānau now live at home, in Ngāti Tūwharetoa where Hinana Media operates from.

Monoa Paki
Hinana Media Founder and All-round kaimahi
Monoa Paki is passionate about poiwhana, lego and sushi. He is the quiet inspiration for all of us at Hinana Media.
Monoa is an amazing artist, sportsman and kapahaka enthusiast. He is always in a campaign or training of sorts for a regional, national or international competition. He is the best big brother to little fire-cracker princess, Tehani.
Monoa is so much a part of the story-telling at Hinana Media that he may as well be the CEO.

Tehani Paki
Hinana Media BOSS
Tehani Paki is the Boss where-ever she goes.
She is passionate about cats, kapahaka and dancing. Her mahi-toi skills are out of this world.
Tehani is the apple of her Papa's eye and is the only one he will listen to.
Hinana Media is grateful for her energy, enthusiasm and growlings.
